Bayesian Hypothesis Evaluation using JASP and R
During this two-hour hands on tutorial you will be introduced to: null, alternative and informative hypotheses. Subsequently it will be elaborated what the Bayes factor and posterior model probabilities are and how these can be used to evaluate hypotheses. This tutorial will completely be based on examples and concepts, formulas will not be used. The final quarter of this tutorial will be used to give you the experience that you can actually execute what is being taught using the statistical package JASP.
To be able to participate in the hands-on part of this tutorial, you need to prepare by:
- Installing the latest version of JASP on your laptop.
- Surfing to https://informative-hypotheses.sites.uu.nl/software/bain/ move to the bottom of the page where under “workshops” you will soon find “EMLAR2024 Bayesian Hypothesis Evaluation” where you can download the materials that will be used during this tutorial.
After attending this tutorial you will be able to use JASP for the evaluation of informative hypotheses in the context of ANOVA’s, which is an excellent starting point for the evaluation of informative hypotheses in the context of other statistical models.
