EMLAR XX 2024

Tutorials

Open (your) Science Using the Statistical Package JASP

During this two-hour hands on tutorial you will be introduced to: the necessity of open science; the open empirical cycle; and how you can open your data and analyses using the open statistical software package JASP https://jasp-stats.org/ and a repository at the open science foundation (see, for example, https://osf.io/z7tbg/)

When you do empirical, data based research, you can employ a number of open science features like: preregistration, open access publication, replication studies, and openly publishing your data and analyses using open software. Although all these features will be discussed, the focus of this hands-on tutorial will be on the latter. This includes an introduction of the statistical software package JASP.

To be able to participate in the hands-on part of this tutorial, you need to prepare by:

  • Installing the latest version of JASP on your laptop.
  • Surfing to https://informative-hypotheses.sites.uu.nl/software/bain/ move to the bottom of the page where under “workshops” you will soon find “EMLAR2024 – Open Your Science” where you can download the materials that will be used during this tutorial.

After attending this tutorial you will be able to create a JASP-file containing your data, analyses, annotations, a license, and references, and, you will be able to publish this file in a repository at the open science foundation.
